What is Platelet-Rich Plasma and where does it come from?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous (that means they come directly from you) concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of a number of growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios. Dr. Rosanelli will take a small amount of your own blood from your arm the way you normally have it drawn for a test. This blood is made up of red blood cell and plasma. He uses a centrifuge to separate out the plasma which is rich in the very important platelets.
What do Platelets do?
Platelets release growth factors which regulate the healing cascade by signaling to surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new tissue. This means that when they are injected into the scalp at the site of the hair follicles,in many cases they can revive and renew follicles increasing their production of hair as well as slowing hair loss.
Who is a candidate?
Patients who want to increase hair density, as well as slow hair loss. For surgical patients, a PRP treatment at the time of surgery usually speeds the results dramatically.
Why Eclipse?
The Eclipse Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP system utilizes a patented separator gel technology to isolate the platelets while eliminating the undesirable components such as red blood cells and inflammatory white blood cells, for the best results.
